JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s Leon Haslam makes his first competitive MCE British Superbike appearance at Brands Hatch since 2008 this weekend and will have new suspension components as well as a new fuel tank which should make his life a little easier.

The Derby rider is hoping for a fully-dry weekend so he can put in some race runs in stable weather conditions in order to gather much-needed data.

“I am looking forward to Brands, first time there riding since 2008. We are still waiting on some components to come for the weekend. I’m not completely happy with where the bike is but we haven’t had much dry track time, so we are still really trying to find a perfect base setting for UK tracks,” said Haslam, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

“If you look at Oulton and Silverstone, we haven’t had much more than ten laps with a stable track condition because of the weather. Oulton we didn’t learn anything and Silverstone was difficult. Hopefully, we can have a dry weekend and get some race runs in.

“But using what we have got, I have managed pole positions and a win so it will be a matter of maximising what we have got. We will have some different components from Showa and the new fuel tank, which will make matters a little easier. At the moment, the tank is big and round but the new one will make getting the body position right.”
