EPayMe Yamaha’s John Hopkins has been ruled out of the upcoming Snetterton MCE British Superbike round after breaking ribs and bruising his right lung in a crash at Knockhill on Sunday.

The former MotoGP rider was spat off his R1 in the wet second race and after seeking medical advice, has been diagnosed with mutiple injuries.

After a long 24 hours of tests and assessments in the hospital it’s clear I’ve broken and dislocated right collarbone, broken four ribs and bruised right lung,” Hopkins Tweeted.

“Next step is to see a specialist in order to get my collarbone sorted and put together quickest possible healing timeline.” Team boss Tommy Hill spoke to Bikesportnews.com this morning and said there is a plan in place to get a stand-in rider for Hopkins but some details have to be worked out.

“It’s gutted for John really as it was just starting to come good and we were looking like we could challenge for a Showdown spot. We will put another rider on the bike in place of John but some details need to be worked out.”
