After setting a superb time in a damp qualifying session, which saw him in the top-ten overall, BRDC ‘Rising Star’ Jake Hill was to be frustrated after his VW CC failed the mandatory ride-height check late in the session, meaning all the lap times set up to that point were void, and Hill would be forced to start at the back of the 32-car grid for race one.

“We had some issues in practice, and in the second session the car wasn’t anywhere near where we needed it to be, so I  went through things carefully with my engineers, made some fairly major changes, and the car was night and day better for qualifying. We were about a second faster than in practice, and I felt with the final set of tyres we would be able to improve further. Then the session was stopped, I was called in for checks, and it appears that my front splitter was damaged, meaning we were fractionally lower than the minimum permitted, and our times disallowed”

Despite discussing things with the officials, the decision stood, meaning that a busy day lies ahead on Sunday for the three races, all shown live on ITV4HD, race one at 11.35am, race two at 2.25pm and the final race at 5.20pm.

“We have lots of fantastic folks joining us in our Team HARD Hospitality on Sunday, our guests from ROLEC, Ecoflam, AW Supply Spares, Sportif Group and of course Trade Price Cars and Brisky Racing, so I am determined to put on a show for them all and I also have the ITV4HD On-Board Cameras on my car - so I am planning on LOTS of overtaking, and get some points for the team, and my Jack Sears Trophy and Independent Drivers campaigns”
