GRT Yamaha Official WorldSSP rider Lucas Mahias arrives in Imola for round five of the 2017 FIM World Supersport Championship this weekend leading the standings by 20 points and full of confidence he can battle for the race win once more. Mahias leads the way in the championship standings with 65 points after scoring three podiums in the first four races. The French rider rode brilliantly in Assen to secure second and see his lead extend to 20 points over Sheridan Morais behind him. The 28-year-old already has one race win under his belt in Aragon, demonstrating the incredible potential of the new Yamaha YZF-R6. He hasn’t had the best of luck at Imola in the past, but is determined to turn that fortune around at the iconic 4.936km Imola circuit this weekend. The GRT Yamaha WorldSSP team take to the track on Friday at 11am local time for Free Practice 1, with qualifying on Saturday and the race at 11.30am on Sunday. GRT Yamaha Official WorldSSP Team “I am happy to be heading to Imola. I like this track a lot, but unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to like me as much. In my first year at the circuit I could only ride 20 laps due to some issues with my team, and last year I only got to ride in FP1 because I had a big crash at turn five. Therefore, this year I am out for revenge and hope to come away with a great result.”
