Battered and bruised Michael Dunlop had to settle for second in today’s RL360 Superstock race after his body cried enough with two laps left to go.

Dunlop is still suffering from his last-lap Superbike crash on Sunday and just couldn’t physically manage to keep up with Ian Hutchinson after the pitstops, during which the Ballymoney man got fluid in his eyes which didn’t help matters.

“The first two laps weren’t too bad and I pushed on but I lost time in the pits and with my eyes stinging after the stop, my body couldn’t take much more in the last two laps. I pushed hard but the body had enough,” said Dunlop.

“It shows that one stupid mistake at the start of the week can ruin everything. It’s a bit of a kick in the teeth but we’ll see what we can do in the second half of the week.”
